Here's a picture of the ski resort at Snoqualmie Pass, Washington. It's beautiful up there and resembles an alpine village. It's a forty-five minute drive from my home in Seattle.

I've actually got the best of both worlds. I have big snow to play in less than an hour's drive away and I don't have to shovel it!

The logs on the beach at Long Beach, British Columbia resemble dinosaur bones. The beach is wide here and the scenery is breathtaking. (Note the relative size of the people on the ledge in the background.)

Beaches from Maryland down to Florida do not have the striking terrain that the west coast beaches I've visited have. The land in the East is flat for miles leading up to the coast. Not so in the West.
